Do you take insurance? Yes! At this time I am able to accept Aetna, Anthem, Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, Optum/UnitedHealthCare, and Medicare part B.
Do you provide in-person appointments? Yes, my office is located in the Central San Diego area at 5252 Balboa Ave STE #407, 92117. I also provide virtual appointments on a limited basis.
What types/modalities of therapy do you use? I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and DBT Skills training primarily. I always approach therapy with a Trauma Informed lens.
What does "Trauma Informed" mean? It means recognizing that "unhealthy" behaviors and coping patterns are ways of dealing with stress and trauma that used to work well. They met the goal of making something painful more bearable, and it's important to acknowledge that as you work to replace them.
“An abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal behaviour.”
- Viktor Frankl
Do you work with children/family/couples? I work primarily with individual adults but may take other clients on a case-by-case basis.
Do you provide free phone consultations? Yes, I'm happy to provide a 15 minute phone call to potential clients to help you decide if we'd be a good fit.
What is your fee for clients not using insurance, aka your cash pay fee? I charge $150 per appointment for those paying without insurance.
Do you offer a sliding scale for cash pay? I may offer reduced cash fees based on financial circumstances.
How long are therapy sessions? Appointments typically last 50 minutes unless different arrangements have been discussed.
How will I know if therapy is working? Setting goals for therapy will be one of the things we focus on in the first few appointments. As we work together, we will regularly review progress and revise those goals to make sure you're getting what you want out of therapy.
